I'm out of the (1) job for a couple of months and I tend to get bored quite easily. Luckily, I have a habit of buying DVD's whenever they're on sale. So I have a stack of movies that I've bought over the past year or so that I've never watched (since owning them). I've made it another goal of mine to watch them all over the course of the next few months.
This is what I've got-
After I finish North By Northwest (which is great, by the way) I'll probably finally give Slumdog Millionaire a shot. I'm sure it's great, and I've had a copy since early December, but I've refused to watch it for the sole purpose of avoiding the hype (and fucking with Casey, who deems it the greatest movie of all time).
-I got a screener copy of Slumdog and The Wrestler like three months ago and only watched the latter—which was fucking wonderful.
My real goal, however, was to get xUNTIL MY HEART STOPSx all caught up sometime soon. I've tried to update at least 2-3 times a week, and since last Sunday (when I made the goal) I've updated it three times (which is more than '07 and '08 combined) and added pictures and flyers to all the old stuff. If you haven't looked at it in a while, go there now and read back through.
I went through all my flyers, Myspace comments, journals and records and tried to make a definitive list of out-of-state shows I've played—with Cherem, Cool Your Jets or Tamerlane. I've still got about 72 (!) shows left to write about. It might take a while, but rest assured I'll get there. I doubt anyone will read or care about all hundred plus entries, but at least they'll be there.
Now, on to Hitchcockian greatness.
the abyss is the jam. mary mastrantonio does it up all over the place.
ReplyDeleteThe Wild Bunch is a personal favorite. Peckinpah is a really incredible filmmaker. If you haven't already, buy Strawdogs.
