BFF'S

If you haven't realized by the countless posts on here and on my Tumblr, I'm a huge fan of Ian MacKaye and Henry Rollins. MacKaye is responsible for one of the most influential bands of all time, Minor Threat and while he wasn't a founding member, Rollins helped turn Black Flag into the unstoppable force they became in the mid-80's.

I've always been fascinated by the friendship between McKaye and Rollins, mostly because it seems so genuine. The fact that it was formed around music, punk rock and hardcore makes it all the more real, because it reminds me of the friends I've made with so many people over the years. I'm closer with the guys I met in shitty club basements listening to bands no one has ever heard of besides us than the kids I spent every single day with throughout elementary, junior high and high school.

I sincerely hope that when I'm pushing 50 years old, I can still talk about those guys with the same affection MacKaye and Rollins talk about each other with.

Here's an interview with MacKaye that does just that. Read it.
